- Sam and I have had quite a few conversations about bats lately!? I have no idea where this has come from, but it's quite amusing! Today at breakfast, out of the blue, he says, "Bats are dirty." (I'm actually relieved that SOMEONE is teaching him correctly!) I asked him where he learned about bats, to which he replied, "I learned the bats in the woods. Yes I did Mom!" OK... so there we have it. He also informed me that there were other 'creatures' in the woods that are bad --- such as snakes! YEAH!!!
- Last night at dinner, we were trying to get Jake to eat (this is a regular occurrence in our house. We feed, he spits it out... drives me crazy!). Well, Sam sees Jake doing something 'bad' and ALWAYS decides he must do the same (yes, we're in that phase where he just wants attention... it's just usually negative. Such fun!). So, Sam spit his food out of his mouth. We get onto him, and he tells us that "Pop Pop does it too!" Really???? ;)
- Jake is a bundle of words these days. He is even speaking in 2-3 word sentences. Of course, I think he's a genius!!!! It's also plain as day to me what he's saying, but other people tend to give me a puzzled look. I feel like saying, "What? You didn't understand that he just said that he wanted to go for a ride on the Mule?" (Jake probably sounded more like, 'Meel.... nigh, nigh!')
- When Jake had his circumcision, he would tell us his 'poo poo hurts!' Absolutely adorable. I swear he looks like a little angel when he's good or bad! My heart melts when he gives me that look with his little eyes! Maybe it's because of all he has been through... or it COULD be that he looks exactly like his daddy!?
- Sam never shuts up. He's three. He gets in trouble a lot. But, honestly... I would rather have a 'normal' healthy little CRAZY three-yr-old than a calm, not-so-normal three-yr-old that doesn't ever do anything! You know what I mean?
- Sam IS the only three-yr-old I know that needs a couple of magazines to go poop with. And he literally thumbs through them. I know he didn't learn this from me... I barely have time to poop, let alone read a couple of magazines!!!!
- I have found that counting to three gets Sam to cooperate these days. One day, I wanted him to get in the car, so I started counting as I was putting Jake in his seat. I was at two, and Jake yells, "THREE!" My baby can count!!!!! That, and he was probably ready for Sam to just go ahead and get in trouble!!!
- Sam has become quite the independent little guy (only when he wants to be, mind you... there are PLENTY of things he would rather Mommy just 'help' him with.... and by help, I mean do it!) I was on the phone one day, and Sam was trying to play with his toys. I suppose I was too loud, because he walked up to me and said, "Don't talk Mommy!" He will also instruct me to be quiet when we're in the car and he's trying to watch his movie!
- At BJ's teaching, Jake is constantly saying, "Hot, hot Jalapeno!" (I don't know...)
- A couple of weeks ago, the boys and I went to see Nanny (who is now in Athens). We went into Belk, and after I finally just gave them a Rice Krispie Treat to keep them in the stroller and relatively quiet, we were ready to check out (I swear it had been DAYS). Sam jumped out of his seat, and barrelled right through one of their signs. Literally just took it out. It's one of those that has metal bars in the shape of a square with the sign in the center of the square, and two squares on top of each other. He just took out the bottom sign, walked back and got back in his seat. Craziest thing I ever saw. I honestly didn't know how to react! I chuckled to myself at what had just happened, then kissed his boo boo. I think he learned his lesson!?
- Sam and Jake love Cheetos ( the natural kind aren't QUITE as messy as the orange ones). Sam put them in his ears one day and called himself a caterpillar. Needless to say, Cheetos are a rare treat!
- Sam wanted the lid off of one of his toys, so he threw it on the floor at me. I (sternly) told him that it was NOT OK to throw toys on the floor or at people. To which Sam replied, "But it's a wheel Mommy. Wheels roll." Oh boy.... logic has already entered his little mind!
- Jake is now wearing Sam's clothes from last year. I think this is confusing to Sam, because when Jake wears one of 'his' shirts, Sam points and says, "That's MY shirt!" grrrreat!!!!!!
- When I'm driving, Sam is usually telling me to "Go fast, Mommy!" while Jake's in the other seat shouting, "WHOA! WHOA! WHOA!" Sam has also told on me while I'm on the phone. One day he said, "Mommy, wasn't that a stop sign? (Yes.) Why didn't you stop?"
- We still lock our kitchen cabinets because Jake is still nosey. One day, I was pulling Jake out of the cabinet, and Sam asked how he got in there. I told him his Daddy forgot to lock the cabinet. Sam went over to BJ and said, "Daddy, you need to learn to lock the cabinets!"
- I finally tired of Sam getting up before 7 and coming into my room in the mornings. It started out as 6:45, and has finally crept up to 6/6:15. That was ridiculous, so I put a clock in his room, drew a 7 on it (covered up the right side #s - so he wouldn't be in my room every 10 minutes because he 'saw a 7'), and told him not to come to my room until he saw a 7. It's working for the most part... he comes out sometimes because he 'HAS to tee tee,' (aka stalling), but all-in-all, I am pleased! YAY!!!
- Every morning once Sam is up and in my room, I get in the shower and get ready for the day. Sometimes he's 'really hungry' and ready to go on downstairs. I would be fine with that except that Jake is sleeping, and he can't be trusted not to be loud and wake Jake up! I told him that I had to fix my face first, and he said, "Why? Does it look silly?" Awwww.... that's love!!!!
- I don't know if Jake doesn't like to sit in poop (I really doubt that), or if he just likes the challenge of taking his clothes off to get to his diaper.... nonetheless, he has figured all of this out, and I figured out that he figured it out by walking into his room one morning to a completely naked baby with poop all over the place! LOVELY!!!! Now, he sleeps in one piece jammies with PANTS over them!!!!!
There are so many more funnies. These guys keep me hopping CONSTANTLY! I would like to say they're keeping me sharp, but I'm only sharper AFTER the crime has been committed!!!!
We're taking a long weekend trip to the farm this weekend.... should have lots of pictures and stories from that!
